NYIP Student Success

Many NYIP members have won prestigious awards in contests and photo fairs or have had their work exhibited in galleries. Other NYIP members are building careers shooting weddings, press events, corporate and commercial assignments, or have received professional recognition and publication of their photos. Here are some recent NYIP success stories:

Linda Grant, NC
Congratulations to Linda who won 1st Place in the Reptile and Amphibian category in the 2010 North Carolina Wildlife Photo Competition.

Robert Discus, TX

Robert, a recent graduate of NYIP's Complete Course in Professional Photography, has opened his own photography business, Nostalgic Moments Photography, in San Antonio. Robert photographs weddings, Quinceanera events, portraits, and sports photography. According to Robert, he "enjoyed the course overall, it gave me the technical knowledge I was looking for to really be able to master my equipment.  Additionally, that mastery the course provided has given me the launching point for what really makes a great picture so I can continue to grow as a visual artist."

Ralf Schellen, Germany
Ralf, a 2009 NYIP Graduate, has been working as a professional beauty and fashion photographer and opened his own photo studio in Dusseldorf this year. He also shoots weddings and portraits. You can see his work on his Web site.
Michael Crawford, TX
Congratulations also goes to Michael Crawford who had a photo chosen, after a company-wide competition,  to appear in his company's calendar. Michael was told multiple times by both the ad agency and the Director of Marketing that they could have used only his photos for the entire calendar, though they were only allowed to chose one photo per employee.  Michael says that "out of all the photos I submitted, the photo they selected would not have been my choice, though it is quite colorful."

Fabian Carrillo, France
Great news from Fabian who just had his first solo exhibition in Brioude, France. He sold enough prints during the first day of the show to cover his expenses and make a profit. Plus, as a result of the exhibition he was hired to photograph pictures for a jewelry catalog!
