A Photographer Reflects on His 2012 Accomplishments

Clay Blackmore - 2012 no doubt was a great year…I’m even willing to say it was The Best Year Ever! To start 2013, what better way than to reflect on the great moments I encountered during the months of 2012. Please enjoy these 10 highlights.

I have never made so many Big Pictures! I guess it’s the new camera I'm working with! This is a fun image made in Montreal Canada during our Spring Tour, How to Photograph Everyone.

Highlight 2

It’s not business as usual these days. Our latest work that concluded 2012: business portraits and FILM for Foulger Pratt.

Mitzvahs Mitzvahs Mitzvahs…2012 was filled with fantastic events for our very special 13 year olds. Our December favorite has to be Avi Abrams. Oldest brother of 6, this boy is full of talent and grace.

It’s Back to School for some Serious Education. I found myself as an authority on Wedding and Children’s Photography at the New York Institute of Photography with the launch of two new publications. The first- Top Ten Secrets for Perfect Baby & Child Portraits. Education along with 90 illustrations to show that the proof is in the pudding.

Weddings are HOT! Our new written publication is produced by the New York Institute of Photography, a genre lesson in their Complete Course in Professional Photography. This publication is supported with my latest wedding work, along with my surge into boutique short films, tying together a new direction in weddings with complete coverage, offering album/s and films.

How To Photograph Everyone Tour - It Started Fast! Before I knew it, I packed up and left the studio for life on the road from March 24 – June 8 and again for two weeks in September for Italy. With plans to visit every major trade show, we added in a tour with 60 appearances across the country and abroad. (Not to mention I came home for weddings and mitzvahs on many weekends!) Whew; I can’t believe it, but what an expereince! I met so many great experienced and novice photographers yearning to learn. Yes, keep an eye out for images on my blog, especially from the Tuscany Italy experience, with 50 friends in a castle!

Highlight 7

During the HIV Awareness Week in Washington DC, we were chosen to help create Let's Stop HIV Together portraits of people from all over the world that struggle daily with the disease. My portraits were made to show how support from family and friends is vital to keep victims of the virus positive about each day.

Highlight 8

Vegas baby…Vegas. I so much enjoyed spending time with Ernie Moody while in Vegas and of course capturing this great shot of his Batmobile!

Family is everything. Out of everything, I have to say my favorite thing to photograph is a family portrait. My studio offers capabilities for families to have beautiful portraits taken inside and out. I found fantastic locations throughout the seasons right outside my door.

Highlight 10

When you talk about a great year, you have to include a milestone like a 50th birthday and the people in your life that make it all happen.
